Please note that as of 28th April 2021, Trainees seeking leadership training should in the first instance be encouraged to access the free NHS Leadership Academy Edward Jenner or the LEEP programme delivered by an NHS Trust or HEE.
If they wish to take any other course, they will be required to obtain discretionary approval. These are the main changes applied to the application process for these courses;
- Trainees should in the first instance seek to apply for the free NHS Leadership Academy Edward Jenner or the LEEP programme delivered by an NHS Trust or HEE, and should only consider any other options if these courses are not available.
- Alternative courses must be discussed with their Training Programme Director and their Head of School, in compliance with the discretionary approval process;
- A cap of £1,000, inclusive of all costs, i.e. the course fees and any T&A and/or sustenance costs, will be applied to any courses for which discretionary approval is obtained.
- Leadership courses that cost in excess of £1,000 would be taken at the trainee's expense, and if discretionary approval is granted their claim would be limited to £1,000.
