How do GP Patch ADs support the allocation process?

Modified on Mon, 6 Feb, 2023 at 4:36 PM

Patch ADs review the practice lists sent to trusts for assurance purposes and may note some specific requirements in relation to allocations. These will be noted on the GP practice lists sent to trusts.

Trusts should then contact Patch ADs to support with advice around placements, although trusts are responsible for the allocation process itself.

It is important to have educational input from the ADs to ensure:

  • Practices are happy to take an F2 for the training year
  • Practices do not double up on trainees
  • The use of local knowledge and feedback to support the appropriate placement of trainees
  • New F2 supervisors are given priority (where appropriate)
  • To support supervisors and their mentoring of F2 Doctors

Patch ADs will also provide support and oversight to the process with HET and the FSDs to support with any concerns that become escalated.
