Can I get study leave to study for a professional exam? How much study leave am I entitled to for this private study?

Modified on Fri, 2 Feb at 5:05 PM

As study leave time is related to the Terms and Conditions of your contract, approval of private study leave is a local employer decision, subject to service commitments and approval by your educational supervisor and rota coordinator. Trusts usually allow up to 5 days of private study leave per exam, but this should be confirmed locally with your employer.

However, please note that Foundation doctors can only apply for study leave time for the day of an exam, not time for preparation/revision, as there are no curriculum-mandated exams in Foundation years.
