Do placements of less than one month require an Educational Supervisor (ES) report, and how is the one‑month period calculated?

Modified on Wed, 11 Mar at 3:06 PM

Trainees are advised to calculate the one‑month period from the ARCP paperwork deadline. Where a trainee had been in post for less than one month at the point of the ARCP paperwork deadline, an Educational Supervisor (ES) report is not required.

Where a placement meets or exceeds one month in duration at the point of the ARCP paperwork deadline, an ES report would normally be expected.

If there is any uncertainty (for example, where start dates are close to the one‑month threshold), local advice should be sought to confirm whether an ES report is required.
