What this article is about
This article explains what to do if you are expecting placement information but have not received it.
Who this is for
Doctors and dentists in training waiting for rotation or placement details.
What you need to know
- Placement information is normally issued in line with Code of Practice timelines.
- The standard expectation is that trainees and employers receive confirmed placement information by 12 weeks before the rotation start date.
- Some programmes may issue information at different points depending on recruitment, late changes, OOP, LTFT, special circumstances, IDT or other factors.
- You should make sure your contact details are up to date.
- You should check junk or spam folders and any portal or email account used for training communications.
- Employers may receive information through portal reports before or alongside trainee notification.
What to do
- Check the expected rotation start date.
- Check your email, junk or spam folders and any training portal.
- Confirm that your contact details are up to date.
- Check whether your programme team has issued any general update about delayed placements.
- Raise a query through the PGMDE Support Portal if you are close to the expected publication point or need urgent clarification.
- Include your full name, professional registration number, specialty, training level, current placement and expected rotation date.
- Tell the team if you have an approved LTFT, OOP, IDT, special circumstances or other arrangement that may affect placement.
If this does not work
If placement information is delayed because a decision is still being finalised, you may be given an update but not a confirmed placement until approval is complete.
Who to contact
Use the PGMDE Support Portal for placement notification queries. Contact your employer only once an employer or placement has been confirmed.
