The Certificate of Completion of Specialty Training (CCST) is awarded to dental trainees who successfully complete an approved specialty training programme in the UK. It signifies that a dentist has met all required competencies and is eligible to join the General Dental Council (GDC) Specialist List.
Key points about CCST in dental training:
Issued by the GDC upon receipt of a recommendation form from NHS England.
The recommendation confirms that the trainee has satisfactorily completed an approved National Training Number (NTN) programme in the UK.
To receive a CCST, trainees must have a satisfactory final ARCP (Annual Review of Competency Progression).
Passing the relevant Royal College exit examination is also a requirement.
Once awarded, the CCST allows dentists to register as specialists in their chosen field.
