I am a Higher Dental Less Than Full Time (LTFT) trainee, will my extension to training be pro-rata?

Yes, if you are working Less Than Full-Time (LTFT) and have been awarded an ARCP Outcome 3 with an extension to training, the extension time will be pro-rata. This means the additional training period will be adjusted based on your LTFT percentage rather than a full-time equivalent.

According to the Dental Gold Guide, the overall duration of the extension for specialty training should normally be a maximum of one year, unless exceptionally extended at the discretion of the Postgraduate Dental Dean, with an absolute maximum of two years. For LTFT trainees, this extension is calculated pro-rata, ensuring fairness in training duration while maintaining competency requirements.
