What this article is about
This article explains what happens when you leave training because you have completed training or reached the end of a fixed-term programme.
Who this is for
Doctors and dentists in training who are approaching CCT, programme completion or the end of a fixed-term training appointment.
What you need to know
- Completion of training is normally confirmed through the relevant training and ARCP process.
- Your training number or training contract may end when you complete the programme and receive the relevant completion outcome.
- Fixed-term programme end arrangements should be confirmed in advance.
- Your employer manages employment contract end dates, final pay, annual leave, references and local HR processes.
- If you are applying for a Period of Grace, this must be managed through the appropriate process and agreed before it starts.
- You should request or download any documents you need before system access changes.
What to do
- Check your expected CCT or programme end date.
- Make sure your portfolio and required evidence are up to date.
- Engage with your final ARCP or completion process.
- Confirm your employment end arrangements with your employer.
- If you need a Period of Grace, follow the Period of Grace application process.
- Request copies of key documents before you leave.
- Keep your contact details up to date in case HET needs to contact you after completion.
If this does not work
If your completion date, employment end date or training record appears incorrect, raise a query as early as possible so records can be checked before you leave.
Who to contact
Use the PGMDE Support Portal for training record, CCT or programme completion queries. Contact your employer for contract, pay, annual leave and references.
