Certificates of attendance and how to request a copy

What this article is about
This article explains when certificates of attendance are issued and how to request a copy.

Who this is for
Doctors and dentists in training, educators, speakers or other attendees who need evidence of attendance.

What you need to know

  • Certificates are usually issued only to people who attended the event and were recorded as attended.
  • For some events, certificates may be issued automatically after attendance records are updated.
  • Certificates may not be available immediately after the event.
  • If your attendance was not recorded, a certificate may not be issued unless attendance can be verified.
  • Certificates normally confirm attendance only. They do not confirm competence, completion of a curriculum requirement or study leave approval unless specifically stated.

What to do

  1. Wait for the event team to update attendance records after the event.
  2. Check your email, including junk or spam folders, for a certificate.
  3. If you have not received a certificate after a reasonable period, raise a query through the PGMDE Support Portal.
  4. Include your full name, event title, event date, email address used to book, and any evidence that you attended.
  5. Keep a copy of the certificate for your portfolio if required.

If this does not work
If your attendance cannot be verified, HET may not be able to issue a certificate. You may be asked to contact the event organiser if HET did not administer the event.

Who to contact
Use the PGMDE Support Portal for certificate queries.

What HET can and cannot help with
HET can help with

  • Checking whether a certificate has been issued.
  • Reissuing a certificate where attendance is confirmed.
  • Correcting certificate details where appropriate.
  • Directing queries to the organiser if certificates are not managed by HET.

HET cannot help with

  • Issuing a certificate where attendance cannot be confirmed.
  • Issuing a certificate for an event not administered by HET unless records are available.
  • Confirming curriculum competence.
  • Approving study leave retrospectively.
