What this article is about
This article explains how to book onto an event or regional training day.

Who this is for
Doctors and dentists in training, educators, speakers or other invited attendees who need to register for an event.

What you need to know

  • Event booking instructions are usually sent by email or provided by the school, specialty or organiser.
  • Some events use an online event management system or booking form.
  • You should only book onto events that are relevant to your specialty, grade, role or invitation.
  • Some events have a maximum capacity.
  • Booking onto an event does not automatically approve study leave or rota release.
  • You may receive joining instructions separately before the event.

What to do

  1. Read the event invitation or booking instructions carefully.
  2. Check that the event is relevant to you.
  3. Complete the booking form or registration process.
  4. Provide accurate details, including your name, contact information, specialty and training level if requested.
  5. Submit the booking before the deadline.
  6. Keep your confirmation email or booking reference.
  7. Follow any joining instructions issued before the event.

If this does not work
If you cannot complete the booking, check that all required fields have been completed and that the event is still open for registration. If the problem continues, raise a query through the PGMDE Support Portal and include the event name, date and a description of the issue.

Who to contact
Use the PGMDE Support Portal for event booking queries.

What HET can and cannot help with
HET can help with

  • Checking whether a booking has been received where HET administers the event.
  • Advising on common booking issues.
  • Updating event records where a correction is needed and permitted.
  • Directing you to the organiser if the event is not administered by HET.

HET cannot help with

  • Approving study leave.
  • Confirming attendance if you did not attend.
  • Guaranteeing a place once an event is full.
  • Registering you for an event where you do not meet the stated audience criteria.
