I have chosen to resign from my training programme who should I inform?

Modified on Tue, 2 Dec at 2:32 PM

On those occasions where a Foundation Dentist chooses to resign of their own volition, they must inform his/her employer in writing, complying with the length of notice set out in the Foundation Dentist’s employment contract. The resignation letter must be copied to the Postgraduate Dental Dean and the relevant Deanery/Office.

Process steps below:

  • Arrange a meeting with TPD/PAD

    • Schedule a confidential discussion with your Training Programme Director (TPD) or Associate Dean (PAD).

    • Purpose: Explain your intentions, reasons, and explore support options that might enable you to remain in programme.

  • Confirm your decision in writing

    • Send a formal resignation email/letter to your TPD/PAD and practice.

  • Notify the Lead Employer and HR

    • Contact your Lead Employer’s Medical Staffing/HR to start the contractual resignation process

  • Inform WT&E (Deanery) via the portal

    • Submit a Change in Circumstances Notification.

    • Purpose: Update programme records and trigger any required administrative actions (e.g., RCP closure, training status updates).
