How LTFT training affects your CCT date and ARCP

Modified on Thu, 24 Sep at 10:20 AM

What this article is about
This article explains how LTFT training affects your expected CCT date, ARCP timing and training progression.

Who this is for
Doctors and dentists in training who are training LTFT or considering applying for LTFT.

What you need to know

  • LTFT trainees must meet the same curriculum requirements as full-time trainees.
  • Training requirements are applied on a pro-rata and capability-based basis.
  • LTFT trainees should have an ARCP at least annually and no more than 15 months apart, to meet revalidation requirements.
  • An ARCP may still be needed at a critical progression point.
  • Your CCT date will usually be recalculated when your WTE changes.
  • If additional training time is awarded following an Outcome 3 or 10.2, the extension will normally be applied pro rata.
  • Workplace-based assessments and supervised learning events should be spread appropriately across the placement.
  • You should make sure your ePortfolio, Form R and training records reflect your LTFT percentage accurately.
  • If you hold a Skilled Worker or Tier 2 visa and your training is extended, sponsorship implications may need to be reviewed.

What to do

  1. Check your approved WTE and start date.
  2. Review your updated CCT date once your LTFT arrangement is recorded.
  3. Make sure your ePortfolio reflects your LTFT status correctly.
  4. Submit Form R and ARCP evidence as required.
  5. Discuss pro-rata evidence expectations with your educational supervisor or Training Programme Director.
  6. Raise a query if your CCT date or WTE appears incorrect.
  7. If you hold a visa, seek advice through the correct sponsorship route before expiry.

If this does not work
If your CCT date appears wrong, or your LTFT percentage is not reflected correctly, raise a query through the PGMDE Support Portal and include your approval details.

Who to contact
Use the PGMDE Support Portal for CCT date, WTE and training record queries. Contact your Training Programme Director or educational supervisor for curriculum and evidence expectations. Contact your employer for rota, contract, pay and local arrangements.
