What this article is about
This article explains how ARCP outcomes may affect your expected completion date.

Who this is for
REsident doctors and dentists in training whose ARCP outcome, training pattern or absence may affect their expected CCT or programme end date.

What you need to know

  • Your CCT date is reviewed through training progression processes, including ARCP.
  • Some ARCP outcomes do not change your expected CCT date.
  • An Outcome 3 or 10.2 normally means additional training time is required and may extend your CCT date.
  • An Outcome 2 or 10.1 means further development is needed but additional training time is not currently required.
  • Outcome 5 is not a final progression outcome and should be followed by review once evidence is submitted.
  • LTFT, OOP, statutory leave, sickness absence or other time out of training may also affect your CCT date.
  • In some circumstances, faster progress against curriculum requirements may affect your completion date, but this must be agreed through the relevant process.

What to do

  1. Check your ARCP outcome and whether it mentions additional training time.
  2. Review any updated CCT or programme end date shown on your outcome form or training record.
  3. Check whether LTFT, OOP, statutory leave or absence has been recorded correctly.
  4. Discuss any training time concerns with your Training Programme Director or educational supervisor.
  5. Raise a query if the recorded CCT date appears incorrect.
  6. Keep a copy of any confirmed date change.
  7. Tell your employer if a confirmed date change affects contract, rota or placement planning.

If this does not work
If you are unsure why your CCT date has changed, ask for the date to be reviewed. Do not assume that a portal date is final if there is an unresolved training time query.

Who to contact
Use the PGMDE Support Portal for CCT date or training record queries. Contact your Training Programme Director or educational supervisor for curriculum progression queries. Contact your employer for contract or rota implications.
