What this article is about
This article explains what to do if you want to request a review or appeal of an ARCP outcome.
Who this is for
Resident doctors and dentists in training who have received an ARCP outcome and believe the process or decision should be reviewed.
What you need to know
- Review and appeal rights depend on the ARCP outcome and the relevant training process.
- Not every ARCP outcome will carry the same right to review or appeal.
- You should read the outcome letter and guidance carefully.
- Review and appeal requests must be submitted within the stated timescale.
- You should explain clearly what you are challenging and why.
- Signing an ARCP outcome confirms that you have received it. It does not mean you agree with it or remove your right to request a review or appeal where one is available.
- If a review or appeal is requested, the final outcome may not be confirmed until that process has completed.
What to do
- Read your ARCP outcome form and any accompanying guidance.
- Check whether a review or appeal route is available for your outcome.
- Note the deadline for submitting your request.
- Gather relevant evidence and correspondence.
- Explain clearly whether you believe there was a process issue, missing evidence, incorrect information or another relevant concern.
- Submit your request through the route provided.
- Keep a copy of your request and any response.
If this does not work
If your request is out of time or outside the scope of the review or appeal process, you may be advised that it cannot be considered. If you need clarification, raise this promptly through the route provided.
