Asking for feedback about your interview

Modified on Fri, 25 Sep at 12:24 PM

What this article is about
This article explains how applicants may access interview feedback or outcome information.

Who this is for
Applicants who have completed an interview or assessment and want feedback.

What you need to know

  • Feedback arrangements vary by recruitment process.
  • Most processes provide scores, comments or outcome information. This will usually be via one or both of: making scores available in Oriel, emailing a PDF of your interview scores and verbatim comments from the assessors.
  • Feedback is limited to what is recorded as part of the selection process.
  • HET are unlikely to be able to provide additional feedback beyond what the recruitment process makes available.
  • Feedback is intended to help you understand the outcome, not to re-score the interview.
  • If you believe there was a process error, you should use the complaint or review route rather than a feedback query.

What to do

  1. Check the applicant guidance for how and when feedback is provided.
  2. Log in to your applicant account to check for any scores released via that method. Check your spam/junk folder for emailed feedback.
  3. If feedback is missing or unclear, raise a query through the recruitment support route.
  4. If you believe the process was not followed correctly, use the published complaint route.
  5. Keep copies of any feedback released to you as it will be deleted after a prescribed period of time.

If this does not work
If no additional feedback is available, the recruitment team may only be able to confirm the information already released through the recruitment process.

Who to contact
Use the recruitment support route for interview feedback queries; the lead recruitment team for the vacancy is responsible for the release of feedback. Use the published complaints route for concerns about the process.

What HET can and cannot help with
HET can help with

  • Directing feedback queries to the correct route.
  • Explaining what local recruitment information is available where HET owns the process.
  • Supporting local record checks where appropriate.

HET cannot help with

  • Providing additional feedback where this is not part of the recruitment process.
  • Changing scores or rankings through a feedback query.
  • Re-running an interview because you disagree with the feedback.
  • Guaranteeing a different outcome.
