Understanding your interview score sheet

Modified on Tue, 8 Sep at 3:12 PM

What this article is about
This article explains how interview score sheets may be used and what applicants should understand about scores and comments.

Who this is for
Applicants who have completed an interview and want to understand their score or feedback.

What you need to know

  • Interview scoring arrangements vary by recruitment process.
  • Scores are usually based on the published selection criteria, interview stations or assessment domains.
  • Interviewers may score independently or use structured scoring guidance.
  • Comments may be used to support the scores awarded.
  • The recruitment process may release score sheets, feedback or outcome information through the applicant system.
  • A recruitment complaint is usually about whether the process was followed correctly, not whether an applicant disagrees with an interviewer’s judgement.
  • You should read any feedback alongside the applicant guidance and scoring criteria.

What to do

  1. Check where interview outcomes and score sheets are released.
  2. Read your score sheet and any comments carefully.
  3. Compare the scores with the published interview or assessment criteria, where available.
  4. If you do not understand the information shown, raise a query through the recruitment support route.
  5. If you believe there was a process error, follow the published complaint route.
  6. Keep copies of your score sheet and any feedback.

If this does not work
If you disagree with a score, the recruitment complaints process will normally consider whether the recruitment process was followed correctly. It is not usually a route to re-mark an interview unless the published process allows this or a process error is identified.

Who to contact
Use the recruitment support route for score sheet or feedback queries. Use the published complaints route if you believe there was a process error.
