FOM guidelines on writing a dissertation for purpose stress the importance of early planning by trainees. Late submission of dissertations is the principal reason that trainees’ CCT completion dates become delayed and the most common reason for issuing an unsatisfactory ARCP outcome.

The FOM dissertation timetable can be found here.

On occasions where delays occur, training may need to be extended to accommodate the time it takes for the dissertation to be accepted, this will need to be done via ARCP outcome 3.

You will need to contact your training programme director and LaSE Healthcare Education Team to inform them if this is the case, an ARCP panel will need to be convened to issue an extension to training.
